Makeup Pedestal

Last week I helped a friend work on her holiday decorations and as a thank-you she gave me this adorable candlestick and plate.  I brought it home and glued them together like I had done before when I created a dessert pedestal for my mom.  These colors don't exactly coordinate with my living or dining room areas so I decided to put it in the bathroom.  I think it looks great on my vanity with all my makeup and fragrance essentials!

Metamorphosis Monday: Kitchen Utensil Holder

See that red holder for all of my kitchen utensils??? It's actually a coffee tin! I primed it with white paint and then spray painted it with three layers of red paint.  I've been using it for two and half months now and it's held up well.  I like the fact that it cost me about $0 because I had everything already on hand.

Metamorphosis Monday: Doggie Silhouettes

I have been wanting to do this easy and inexpensive project for about a year now and finally tackled it today! All in all it cost me $.10 out of pocket (1 sheet of black paper) to make these two ADORABLE silhouettes of my doggies, Piper and Sophie!

I first found a digital picture that showed their full bodies from the side.  Using the draft setting on my printer I printed a 3x5 size of the picture onto basic white computer paper.  Using VERY sharp scissors I cut out the picture to reveal the dog form.  From there I traced the picture onto a black piece of card stock.  Using frames I already owned I simply glued the silhouette onto white card stock and popped into the frame.  Presto...a piece of art I will treasure for years to come!
