Butterfly

I was coming in from Sophie's second walk of the morning when this gorgeous butterfly decided it would sit itself on my shoulder.  Needless to say Sophie wasn't very happy about that! I took her inside our apartment, grabbed my camera and headed back to see if I could find the butterfly.  Sure enough it was right where I had seen it last.  It sat on that one branch for 10 minutes while I walked all around it taking pictures.  Talk about beautiful!!! I think I am going to have one of these printed out and framed!

Metamorphosis Monday: Doggie Silhouettes

I have been wanting to do this easy and inexpensive project for about a year now and finally tackled it today! All in all it cost me $.10 out of pocket (1 sheet of black paper) to make these two ADORABLE silhouettes of my doggies, Piper and Sophie!

I first found a digital picture that showed their full bodies from the side.  Using the draft setting on my printer I printed a 3x5 size of the picture onto basic white computer paper.  Using VERY sharp scissors I cut out the picture to reveal the dog form.  From there I traced the picture onto a black piece of card stock.  Using frames I already owned I simply glued the silhouette onto white card stock and popped into the frame.  Presto...a piece of art I will treasure for years to come!

Kicking Off the Birthday In Style

Yesterday I got my first birthday package in the mail...proof that 31 is really around the corner! This package was from my in-laws...they are always very generous.  How stinkin' cute is that polka dot monogrammed bag...could anything scream Tara more?!? I also got two home fragrances, a candle, 3 books (desperate need of reading material right now so these couldn't have come at a better time!) and a gift card so the hubs and I can go to The Cheesecake Factory at least twice for take-out in the near future!

The candle was wrapped up with a cute bow around it and we couldn't resist putting it on Sophie (it wouldn't fit around Piper's neck!!!).  You can see how she's tucking her ears that she was not a very big fan of the bow, but she still looks cute!

Sophie

I was trying to organize some pictures that were sitting in our "Family Photos" file yesterday and happened on this first photo that I couldn't even remember taking. It is of Piper (big brownie) and of Sophie (our puppy) on the day that she came into our lives, February 10th. I was in shock trying to remember that she was actually once so, so small! If you look closely you can see her deformed leg/backside shape...poor thing! The second picture was taken a few months back. You can see now that she's the "tall" dog now!!! As of this week she towers over Piper by at least 9 inches. Sophie turns one later this month. I still can't believe it!!!

Garfield & Odie

Hubby and I were talking the other day and we realized that our dogs are so similar to the popular cartoon characters of Garfield & Odie. While Piper is a not a cat, she definitely has that "sense of entitlement" like Garfield does and I think she could eat an entire pan of lasagna if she were given the chance. I will say though that Sophie kind of resembles Odie. She's tall, thin and her tongue hangs out of her mouth like Odie's when she's been running around!
